1. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO START YOUR TRAINING AT VEMA?
AKIN: I’ve always been interested in science, even back in school. A practical internship at Vema convinced me to apply for the training program. The team and the tasks won me over immediately.
LUKE: I already did an internship. The atmosphere and the team impressed me right away.
2. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR TRAINING?
AKIN: My goal is to successfully complete the training and gain extensive knowledge that will prepare me for my future career.
LUKE: My goal is to learn everything important in the field of warehouse logistics and complete my training successfully.
3. WHAT TASKS HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO TAKE ON SO FAR?
AKIN: I’ve helped with mixing processes and cleaning the mixing tanks. I’ve also weighed raw materials and assisted with goods receipt.
LUKE: I’ve primarily been loading and unloading new goods, storing them correctly, and booking them into the system. Additionally, I prepare the materials needed for production, such as valves or cartons.
4. HOW WAS YOUR FIRST DAY, AND WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST?
AKIN: We were warmly welcomed and even received a small welcome package. The team immediately made me feel at home and showed me how the daily work routines function. The first day was exciting and varied.
LUKE: After a warm welcome and meeting the team, we got straight to work on daily tasks. From the first day, I helped wrapping pallets and assisted with loading, which I really enjoyed!

5. WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE COMPANY AND YOUR COLLEAGUES?
AKIN: I immediately noticed the pleasant working environment. Everyone is relaxed and approachable, which makes working together really enjoyable. It’s a lot of fun here.
LUKE: The colleagues are very friendly, humorous, and easygoing. There’s a lot of laughter, and we have fun while working.
6. WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST SO FAR?
AKIN: I enjoy the profession in general. I especially like working according to a clear plan, where I know exactly what steps need to be taken when mixing raw materials.
LUKE: I particularly enjoy goods receipt and the associated tasks, such as checking delivery notes, finding the storage location, and preparing samples for quality control.
7. WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR TRAINING LOOK LIKE?
AKIN: My day always starts with a short meeting where we discuss the schedule – what needs to be done today and which formulas need to be prepared. After that, we get to work.
LUKE: The day starts with a quick meeting with the production team to determine which materials are needed from the warehouse. I then deliver these materials to ensure production runs smoothly. After that, I handle routine tasks like storing goods.
8. WHAT AREAS AND DEPARTMENTS DO YOU WORK IN DURING YOUR TRAINING?
AKIN: I’ll be trained in all areas of the mixing room. This includes proper cleaning, weighing raw materials, and preparing customer-specific formulas.
LUKE: We rotate through different stations every month to get a comprehensive overview of all tasks. This includes working in the can warehouse, the materials warehouse, or the office. We’ll also have an exchange with our sister company, Kläger Plastik, to learn about the organization and workflows of another company.
9. WHAT ARE YOUR PROFESSIONAL GOALS AFTER YOUR TRAINING?
AKIN: My goal is to complete the training with excellent results. Afterward, I might consider pursuing a master craftsman qualification, as I find that very interesting.
LUKE: I’d like to extend my training to three years if my grades are good enough so that I can gain deeper knowledge in logistics. Beyond that, I might pursue a master craftsman qualification or even consider studying – we’ll see what the future holds.
10. WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO FUTURE TRAINEES STARTING AT VEMA?
AKIN: An interest in science, especially in chemistry and physics, is essential. It helps you understand the content better and get up to speed quickly.
LUKE: I can only recommend training at Vema! The colleagues are very friendly and supportive. They’re always there to help if you get stuck, which makes starting much easier.
